New SRN Division dedicated to delivery of high-speed traffic management

New SRN Division dedicated to delivery of high-speed traffic management

Having seen wholesale transformation as a business over the last few years, City Traffic Management continues to diversify with the setup and implementation of its SRN Division.

Over the last 6-12 months City TM has seen huge demand for high-speed traffic management works on the Strategic Road Network. Whilst delivered with aplomb, the company has taken steps to provide an even better service with a dedicated division solely focused on high-speed
works.

The company has its roots buried in high-speed work, and on April 5th, 2022, that will elevate to the next level with the official launch of the City TM SRN Division, dedicated to delivering for City’s existing client base and expanding upon it to attract new clients.

City is already delivering on contracts that include working alongside Egis on the M40 delivering their traffic management for their category 1 barrier repairs, as well as supporting multiple schemes led by National Highways in Area 5 and 8.

The creation of the new division has been in the preparation for months, but as the new financial year beckons, the launch date is imminent. The team consists of 42 high-speed operatives, but a multi-skilled, versatile workforce enables City TM to call upon its other low speed operatives should it be required.

Leadership

A further exciting announcement for City TM is that of Craig Wood joining the business as head of City’s SRN team.
Craig joins the business after 13 years in the sector, with his experience seeing him excel in roles such as Operations and Maintenance Manager M25, Southeast Works Manager, and most recently Senior Frameworks Manager – South East.

Craig will be supported by Matt Murney who has seen 8 years’ experience in the sector himself, so the SRN team will be led by a duo with plenty of knowhow. Over the coming months, the team will grow due to demand at both operative and supervisor level to keep delivering first class service.

MD Mat Field was asked about current capability, and what’s on the horizon. Mat said:

“We currently have 10 High Speed IPV Crews being deployed on a nightly basis through the SRN network. This is supported by our operations team where further resources are required. With the introduction of the SRN team, we are striving to increase our capabilities to 15 High Speed crews by the end of 2022. However, with the way events are currently unfolding we are hoping this will be a lot sooner! We have a further 5 new IPV’s ordered and due for delivery in 2022 making this number fully achievable.

“It’s an exciting time for us as we continue to deliver high-speed works across the entire south-east, and we are very much looking forward to seeing our SRN Team out and about on the network in Areas 3, 4, 5, 6 & 8 in the coming weeks and months. On a personal level, I’m very much looking forward to working closely with Craig and Matt and enhancing their combined expertise to further develop the division.”

Craig spoke to us about taking on the role as head of the new division and said:

“It’s an exciting challenge for me and one I’m very much looking forward to. It’s been an impressive expansion from City over the last few years and I look forward to playing my part in getting to know our current client base, delivering in the manner they’ve become accustomed to, and leading the further growth of the SRN division.”
